Contemporary - Figurative Artist

Ramchandra S Kharatmal

Ramchandra S. Kharatmal is a distinguished contemporary Indian painter from Solapur, Maharashtra, now based in Pune, with a practice spanning over 24 years. A recipient of the National Lalit Kala Award and the Maharashtra State Art Award, he holds an M.F.A. alongside A.T.D., G.D.Art (Painting), and Dip.A.Ed credentials, and was awarded a two-year National Scholarship from the Poorna Prajna Institute of Fine Art, Mumbai. Beyond his painting practice, he works as a Visualiser, Concept Designer, and Illustrator on large-scale visual art projects nationwide.

Kharatmal paints as a spiritual conversation rather than a technical exercise, moving fluidly across three series: Godhdi, weaving personal memory into the folk patchwork quilt tradition; Samwad, translating music into line and colour; and his Beauty series, drawing on Ajanta and Khajuraho's classical grace to celebrate the feminine form. Influenced equally by folk roots and modern abstraction, his canvases seek the quiet point where the tangible and intangible meet.
