Sujit Karmarkar

Contemporary Figurative

Sujit Karmarkar

A visual artist known for a signature style that blurs the line between painting and pop surrealism. A B.F.A. graduate in Visual Art from the College of Visual Art, Khayragarh University, he works chiefly in acrylic, building layered surfaces of colour, shade, and texture so precise that his canvases often appear almost digital. Subjects seem to lift off the picture plane, rendered with a hyperreal, sculptural intensity rather than flat realism.

His acclaimed "Life Wheel" series exemplifies this approach: automotive wheels become circular portals, their rims and rubber framing miniature cityscapes pulsing with motion and human life. The effect is playful yet meditative, using the geometry of machinery to frame the speed and reflection of urban existence. Across his figurative, pop art, and religious works, Karmarkar's paintings balance bold graphic clarity with intricate detail, earning recognition in numerous solo and group exhibitions across India.
