Varsha R Kharatmal is a distinguished contemporary Indian painter based in Pune, whose practice is defined by deep visual sensitivity and a compelling focus on feminine narratives. She is highly recognized, having received five national-level awards and two state-level awards for her work.
Born and raised in Satara, Kharatmal's journey into art was rooted in a family legacy of art and craft. Though speech and hearing impaired since birth, her profound inability to hear fostered an extraordinary reliance on visual sensation, shaping her distinctive artistic voice. She successfully completed her college education in the arts, overcoming significant challenges with the support of her family and peers.
With 24 years of experience, she has showcased her paintings in two successful solo exhibitions and participated in 17 group shows across India and abroad. Her signature style is described as simple, ornamental, and harmonious, directly connecting with viewers through positive visual energy.
