Santosh Kumar Sandaliya
A contemporary artist and a graduate and postgraduate in Fine Arts from Banaras Hindu University, with over three decades devoted to painting, teaching, and cultural advocacy. What sets his work apart is a technique found in few other practices worldwide: he mixes Ganga Jal, water drawn directly from the sacred Ganga, into his acrylics instead of ordinary water. For Sandilya, this isn't just a material choice but a spiritual one, infusing each canvas with the purity, devotion, and living energy of the river itself. His subjects flow naturally from this practice: the ghats of Kashi at sunrise, sages in meditation, and sacred rituals rendered with luminous, expressive brushwork. This fusion of medium and meaning has earned him recognition across India and internationally, including his recent solo show "Timeless Kashi" at Kamalnayan Bajaj Art Gallery. Through Ganga Jal, Sandilya turns every painting into an act of devotion as much as art.
