Sachindra Nath Jha

Sachindra Nath Jha is a Bihar-born artist whose work moves fluidly between painting, sculpture, installation, and photo-performance. Raised in the village of Marar in Madhubani — a region synonymous with India's rich Mithila art heritage — he trained at Patna Art & Crafts College (Patna University), completing his B.F.A. in Painting in 1996. That same year marked the beginning of a lifelong artistic pilgrimage along the Ganga, whose waters, legends, and living culture continue to shape his visual language.

Over three decades, Jha's practice has earned wide recognition, including the Bihar Kala Samman (2014) and the Dr. Abdul Kalam Gaurav Samman (2018). His acclaimed solo shows Charnamrit and Panchamrit trace this journey through vivid, symbol-rich imagery. He has exhibited extensively across India and internationally — from Delhi and Mumbai to Dubai, London, and Switzerland — with works held in institutions including the Lalit Kala Akademi and Bihar Museum.
