Nagesh Goud

Nagesh Goud (b. 1965, Hyderabad) is a contemporary Indian artist known for reimagining mythological narrative through a modern visual language. He trained at the College of Fine Arts, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad, graduating with a gold medal, and his early work was shaped by exposure to the Paithani and Kalamkari textile-painting traditions.

His paintings draw heavily on the Mahabharata and Ramayana, rendering deities such as Hanuman, Lakshmi, and Radha-Krishna in compositions that move fluidly between figurative, semi-abstract, and abstract idioms. Signature devices include curvaceous, sharply defined forms, saturated colour balanced against monochromatic passages, and a graphic sensibility echoing Andhra Pradesh's leather-puppetry (tholu bommalata) tradition. He typically works in metallic acrylic and ink on canvas, giving surfaces a luminous, almost sculptural quality.
