Kapil Anant

Kapil Anant is a contemporary Delhi-based artist, trained at the College of Art, Delhi, whose practice is deeply rooted in the textures of everyday Indian life. Working primarily in acrylic and ink on paper, he paints from life, turning his attention to hawkers, workers, and ordinary people navigating the urban landscape. His style is marked by an intimate study of the human body in relation to the objects and spaces around it, rendered with an expressive, almost documentary honesty. Rather than idealising his subjects, Kapil captures fleeting, unremarkable moments and imbues them with quiet dignity, offering a poignant commentary on poverty, labour, and resilience in the 21st century. His work carries the imprint of rural Indian traditions even as it engages with the pace of city life.
