Gopal Chandra Naskar

Born and raised in rural Bengal, Gopal Chandra Naskar paints with a quiet devotion that gives his work its distinct voice. Trained at the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata, where he earned his BVA and MVA with first-class honours, he has spent two decades blending Indian mythology with contemporary realism.

His acrylics and dry pastels explore motherhood, faith and the living traditions of Bengal. They have been shown in solo exhibitions in Kolkata and New Delhi and at institutions such as the Academy of Fine Arts, Birla Academy of Art & Culture and Lalit Kala Akademi. His Durga Puja paintings also reached homes across the region on Tata Tea’s festive packs.

In 2026, President Droupadi Murmu honoured him at the 65th National Exhibition of Art for The Tune of The Srimad Bhagavad Gita, a luminous acrylic on canvas.

Naskar lives and works in Kolkata.
