Dushyant Patel

Dushyant Patel is a contemporary Indian painter and printmaker based in Vadodara, Gujarat. He trained at Sheth C.N. College of Fine Arts, Ahmedabad, and went on to complete a post-diploma in printmaking at the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University of Baroda — a lineage that shows in the graphic precision underlying his painted surfaces.

Patel's practice is built around a recurring cast of mundane, everyday objects — apples, crows, cows, cats, cacti — which he transforms into wry, metaphorical stand-ins for human relationships, gender dynamics, and social convention. Rendered with wit and irony, his compositions invite viewers to reconsider familiar social beliefs through unfamiliar visual pairings.

His work has been recognised with the Gujarat State Lalit Kala Akademi Printmaking Award (2009), an H.R.D. Scholarship (2011), and an H.R.D. Fellowship (2016), and has been shown in group exhibitions including the Pune Biennale, Latitude 28 (Delhi), and Archer Art Gallery, Ahmedabad.
