Bolgum Nagesh Goud

Nagesh Goud has spent over three decades crafting a visual language distinctly his own. His canvases draw deeply from the Mahabharata and Ramayana, reimagining Krishna, Rama, Hanuman, and Lakshmi through bold, vividly coloured faces reminiscent of Andhra Pradesh's leather puppet traditions, layered with motifs borrowed from Kalamkari and Paithani textile art. Moving fluidly between the figurative, semi-abstract, and abstract, he works across acrylic, watercolour, oil pastel, ink, and sculpture, lending his compositions a striking, theatrical energy through curvaceous forms and a confident interplay of monochrome and vivid colour.

Each canvas unfolds like a layered tapestry, where scenes from epic lore sit alongside symbolic flora, fauna, and folk ornamentation, drawing the viewer into a world where ancient storytelling meets contemporary sensibility. His practice has earned recognition including the Hyderabad Art Society Award (2010) and honours from the Lalit Kala Samiti, Siddipet, with works held in private collections across India and abroad.
