Mata ni Pachedi, meaning "behind the mother goddess," is a centuries-old sacred textile art from Gujarat, traditionally created by the nomadic Vaghari community as a portable shrine when temple entry was denied to them. Rendered entirely by hand using bamboo pens, wooden blocks, and natural dyes, the artwork depicts the Mother Goddess at its centre, surrounded by mythic scenes, animals, and devotees, framed within decorative borders. The palette traditionally stays within red (from madder) and black (from iron and jaggery), though contemporary works add turmeric yellow and henna green. Each panel is dyed, sun-dried, and boiled repeatedly, a process that can take months to complete.

THE ASHVED DIFFERENCE

Trade Up

Your collection should grow with you. Return any AshVed work at full value against a higher piece - Collecting is a journey, not a transaction.

See It on Your Wall Before You Own It

Scale is the one thing photographs lie about. Hold your phone up and the work appears in your room, actual size, in your light so the choice is made with certainty, not hope

The Artist Never Stops Earning

When your artwork appreciates, so does the artist. Every AshVed resale sends a share back to the hands that made it the first gallery model where the artist’s children inherit an income, not just an art form.

Delivered by the Date That Matters

Anniversaries, muhurats, house-warmings we work backwards from your date. Framing, crating and white-glove delivery managed end to end, tracked by a person, not a portal.
