Bhaskar's scrolls are painted in natural pigments on cloth-backed paper, using the flowing, economical brushstrokes that define Kalighat Patachitra — a few confident lines conjuring an entire figure. But the subjects break tradition: auto-rickshaws, cellphones, and pet dogs slip into compositions once reserved for gods and myth. His recurring motif inverts the old social order — women rendered larger, poised and unbothered, towering over the men beside them. Humour runs through even his gravest work, as in his pandemic-era scrolls where a virus deity is besieged by giant syringes. Each piece reads as folk art in dialogue with the present.
