The Story Behind House of AshVed: A Founder’s Journey

The Story Behind House of AshVed: A Founder’s Journey

Some journeys begin with a business plan. Others begin with a feeling.

For Kruti Virmani, Founder of House of AshVed, the journey began with a deep and instinctive love for Indian art — for the stories held within a painting, the hand of the artist behind it, and the cultural memory carried through generations.

What started as a personal appreciation gradually became something larger: a desire to create a space where Indian art could be discovered, understood and experienced with greater intimacy.

That idea became Arts_AshVed.

Where It Began

In its earliest days, AshVed was rooted primarily in paintings and traditional Indian art.

But the intention was never simply to sell art.

The larger purpose was to bring meaningful works closer to people — works that carried a sense of place, tradition, craftsmanship and individuality.

Over time, conversations with artists, visits to studios, interactions with collectors and the discovery of regional art forms began to shape AshVed in unexpected ways.

Every meeting opened another door.

A painting led to a conversation about an artist’s lineage.

A traditional craft introduced an entire community of makers.

A heritage object revealed a story extending far beyond its visual beauty.

Slowly, AshVed began to grow beyond the canvas.

From Arts_AshVed to House of AshVed

As the vision expanded, it became clear that the name needed to evolve with it.

Paintings remained at the heart of the journey, but AshVed was becoming home to much more — sculptures, heritage pieces, limited editions, collectibles and objects rooted in Indian craftsmanship and culture.

And so, Arts_AshVed evolved into HOUSE OF ASHVED.

The word House felt natural.

A house is not merely a place. It is where stories gather, where objects acquire meaning, and where things we value become part of our everyday lives.

That is the idea behind House of AshVed — to create a thoughtfully curated destination where art and heritage can belong not only in collections, but also in contemporary homes and spaces.

The Founder’s Perspective

For Kruti, building AshVed has always been deeply personal.

Much of the journey has been shaped by curiosity — travelling, meeting artists, listening to their stories, understanding techniques, discovering regional practices and continuously learning how vast the world of Indian art truly is.

There is also a strong belief that an artwork becomes far more meaningful when we understand the story behind it.

Who created it?

Where did the tradition originate?

What inspired the work?

What does it represent?

These questions have become an important part of the way House of AshVed approaches curation.

The goal is not to fill a catalogue with objects.

It is to select works that have character, craftsmanship, cultural relevance and a story worth telling.

Building Relationships, Not Just Collections

One of the most important parts of AshVed’s journey has been its relationships with artists and craftspeople.

From established artists to traditional practitioners and emerging talent, every collaboration brings a different perspective into the House of AshVed universe.

The endeavour is to build relationships rooted in respect — understanding the artist’s practice, representing the work thoughtfully and introducing it to audiences who genuinely connect with it.

At the same time, House of AshVed seeks to make the experience of discovering and collecting art more approachable.

Collecting art does not always have to begin with expertise.

Sometimes it simply begins with a connection.

A work speaks to you.

A story stays with you.

A piece feels as though it belongs in your space.

That emotional connection is something AshVed hopes never to lose, even as the gallery grows.

A New Chapter

The launch of www.houseofashved.com marks an important milestone in this journey.

The online gallery brings together the evolving world of AshVed in one space — allowing collectors and art lovers to explore curated paintings, sculptures, heritage works and collectible objects while learning more about the people and traditions behind them.

But this is not an arrival.

It is another beginning.

There are still countless artists to discover, stories to document, traditions to explore and meaningful works to bring into the House of AshVed collection.

What began with a love for Indian art has gradually become a larger commitment — to celebrate the extraordinary depth of India’s artistic heritage while presenting it in a way that feels relevant, thoughtful and timeless.

For Kruti, perhaps the most meaningful part of the journey is that AshVed continues to evolve while remaining connected to the reason it began in the first place:

A genuine love for art, the people who create it, and the stories that deserve to live on.

Welcome to House of AshVed.

A home for art. A celebration of heritage. A place for stories worth preserving.
