This is where the art flourished between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries under the rule of Raja Venkatapa Nayaka. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAs a famous painting tradition of Karnataka's Yadgir district, Surpur focuses on restraint over richness. Figures are elongated and almost dreamlike, their almond-shaped eyes carrying a quiet, contemplative expression. The themes stay devotional throughout: \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eKrishna's childhood, Rama's coronation, the gods of Vaishnava lore and more\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e.
